Cynthia Courage has been an artist for over 35 years. She began her career in stained glass in New Orleans in 1988 with Ken Attenhofer of Attenhofer’s Stained Glass. She is now in her 30th year as a commercial glass artist.
Due to her 30 years of diverse experience, Cindy has become a local historic stained glass expert. Always seeking to improve her skills and increase her knowledge, she has attended numerous master level classes with some of the top glass painters in America and from around the world. She participated in an exclusive one-week class taught at the MET, in New York, by Drew Anderson, the Conservator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Stained Glass Collection. As a committed teacher, she has also continued to share her knowledge with amateurs as well as experienced glass artists. Cindy is a Board member of the American Glass Guild, member of the Stained Glass Association of America, and the Stained Glass Committee for the Preservation Resource Center in New Orleans, which conducts bi-annual stained glass tours in the greater New Orleans area.
In 2002 she purchased the studio from Mr. Attenhofer, and has continued to enthusiastically pursue her career in art glass, regularly participating in seminars and conferences. In January 2003 Cindy was the first in Louisiana to obtain a State Contractors License in Specialty Stained Glass, #41591. Cindy has worked on numerous church restorations at various significant sites, including St. Louis Cathedral Basilica, Notre Dame Seminary, St. Alphonse’s Catholic Church, Most Holy Trinity, St. Maurice, Our Lady of Lourdes, Ascension of our Lourdes, and numerous other historic churches and commercial buildings throughout the New Orleans area and surrounding communities.
